Bed types and what each one involves
A platform bed with slats is the shortest build. A frame with a headboard that bolts on takes longer. Storage beds add drawers on runners or a lift mechanism. Bunk and loft beds add ladders and guard rails, and they raise the stakes for every bolt.
Write the type, the size and the brand. Add the mattress if it is already in the room, because the base and the mattress must fit each other.
What the price depends on

Taskrabbit’s published flat rates for IKEA items, set across Canada, are in the same range: $73.20 for a MALM high frame with two storage boxes, $165.60 for a BRIMNES frame with storage, and $52.80 for a FRIHETEN corner sofa bed.
The extras are the usual ones: carrying boxes to another floor, taking away the old bed, removing packaging, and a minimum visit. The same firm’s bed page says most bed jobs finish within one to two hours, so a single frame can sit below a 2-hour minimum, which is why a bedroom set with a dresser and a nightstand often goes on the same request. Cribs and Canadian rules
A crib is the one bed where the Government of Canada has set requirements. Health Canada’s checklist says to check the date of manufacture, a label with the model name or number, and clear instructions on how to assemble and use the product. Slats must be spaced no more than 6 cm apart. The mattress must be firm, tight-fitting with a gap of no more than 3 cm to the sides, and no thicker than 15 cm for a crib or 3.8 cm for a cradle or bassinet.
Health Canada also tells parents to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when setting up, to keep the crib away from blind cords, lamps, curtains and electrical cords, and to confirm the product is sturdy with tight screws and bolts. It calls repairs with parts from anywhere but the maker unsafe. For these reasons a crib belongs to someone who builds from the printed instructions and has the right hardware in hand. Give the company the instructions and the model label, and check the Health Canada recalls database before the visit.
Moving a bed
Beds come apart for a move and go back together at the new address, priced as in the FAQ. Put both addresses on the request if the company is to take it down in one home and rebuild it in another.

Can the bed be built in a basement bedroom or on a second floor?
Yes. Tell the company about the stairs and any tight turns before the visit. Long boxes with side rails do not turn every corner, and some assemblers do not carry boxes between floors. Move the boxes to the room beforehand, or ask the company to include carrying in the price.
How long does a bed take to build?

Do bunk and loft beds need anything special?

How is a crib different from other beds?

Can I use my old crib or a hand-me-down?
Health Canada says cribs made before September 1986 should not be used, and traditional drop-side cribs cannot be sold in Canada since 29 December 2016. A secondhand crib needs its manufacturer’s instructions, and any broken part needs a part from the original maker.
Can a bed come apart and go back together for a move?
